About Brian
Three kids will teach you a lot about schools.
Not from a textbook. Not from a board meeting. From living it.
Our family has been through the forms, the meetings, the questions, the advocacy, the challenges and the little victories that come with making sure each child gets what they need.
We've learned that every student is different. That sometimes the system needs to adapt to the child — not the other way around. And that when something isn't working, you can't just shrug and move on.
You ask questions.
You keep showing up.
You advocate.
And you make sure the kids who need a little more support don't get overlooked.
After living that experience as a family, inclusion, accessibility and student support aren't abstract ideas to me. They're personal.
And that's a big part of why I care about getting these things right.
Also, three kids have taught us that "one more school form" is never actually one more school form.
The pitch
Ward 3 isn't just a line on a map — it's a community Brian cares about. The schools here shaped real people he actually knows and likes. He wants them to be excellent, and he's willing to do the unglamorous work to get them there.
Radical concept: a trustee who calls you back. Brian's promise is simple — if you raise a concern, you'll get a real answer, in plain English, without a three-week journey through an automated phone system.
Every line. Even the boring appendices. Your tax dollars fund classrooms, not mysteries — Brian believes every dollar should be explainable to the people who provided it.
Concerts, bake sales, grad ceremonies, the Tuesday-night meeting nobody wants to attend. Trusteeship is a presence job. Brian plans to be aggressively present.

Smaller class pressures, properly supported educational assistants, and resources that reach students instead of stalling in a spreadsheet.
Counsellors and supports kids can actually access — because a student in crisis can't wait for next quarter's review.
Maintained buildings, working ventilation, and long-term planning for growing neighbourhoods — not patch jobs and crossed fingers.
University is one road, not the only road. Strong trades, tech, and apprenticeship pathways so every grad leaves with a direction.
Respect for taxpayers and transparency in spending. Good value isn't the cheapest option — it's the one you can defend at the kitchen table.
Real consultation before decisions, not after. Families are stakeholders, not an audience.

Trustees govern the school division: they set the budget, hire and hold the superintendent accountable, set policy, and represent you at the board table. Think of it as the board of directors for your kids' education — except you get to elect them, which is either democracy or a terrible oversight on someone's part.
Nope. School boards in Manitoba are non-partisan, and Brian likes it that way. His only allegiance is to students, families, and the radical concept of returning phone calls.
Yes! If you live in Ward 3 and you're an eligible voter, you can vote for school trustee. Public education is a public good — and your property taxes fund it either way, so you might as well have a say in how it's run.
